What is GYROTONIC®?

The GYROTONIC® Method is a movement system that combines principles from dance, yoga, swimming, gymnastics and tai chi into fluid, three-dimensional movements coordinated with the breath. Sessions are performed on the Pulley Tower, the essential equipment of the method. Created by former professional dancer Juliu Horvath, the method evolved from his search to recover from career-threatening injuries. Rather than focusing solely on rehabilitation, he developed a movement system that restores strength, mobility and freedom throughout the body. Today, GYROTONIC® is practiced worldwide by people of all ages and fitness levels—from dancers and athletes to office workers, people recovering from injuries and anyone seeking healthier movement habits.

The Pulley Tower

GYROTONIC® sessions are performed on the Pulley Tower, the essential equipment of the method. The pulley system supports smooth, three-dimensional movement while reducing the effects of gravity and promoting joint decompression. Exercises can be performed sitting, standing, lying or kneeling, allowing each session to be adapted to different bodies, abilities and goals.
